Spiders in Australia

Spiders are very common in Australia and we have our share of poisonous ones to contend with, but fortunately 99% are not life threatening.

More often than not the big ones that scare us the most (like the Huntsman) are the least harmful.

In fact many spiders are beneficial as they keep down the populations of pest insects.

If you see a spider, simply avoid it, and in most cases it will avoid you too. People usually only get bitten when they are trying to kill the spider or simply remove it. The best way to remove a spider is to use a broom or if you want to kill it, then just suck it up with a vacuum cleaner nozzle.
